The capacity of Ukraine to fulfil its obligations under the Ramsar Convention and to facilitate its accession to the Bonn Convention and African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement was strengthened.

Project description:
Lead by Wetlands International the project achieved this by:
- establishing collaboration with and between key Ukrainian organizations and individuals in relation to wetland conservation;
- facilitating the wetland inventory and monitoring programmes;
- developing and implementing training programmes on wetland assessment;
- facilitating the development and implementation of management plans for focal wetlands;
- facilitating wetland action planning for the Azov-Black Sea region.
The project was financed by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the framework of the Netherlands’ Programme for the International Nature Management
